Jeff Ballenthin, founding partner of Ballenthin, Funk & Johnson, is a visionary leader and skilled negotiator who possesses a wealth of business expertise gained from decades in personal business ownership. When he started BFJ in 2002, Jeff relied on his knowledge of real estate and construction to establish a strong client base. His interest in business ownership led him to found and invest in several companies, including a full-service property management and brokerage firm, a credentialed business appraisal service and an asset-based lender.

Today at BFJ, he focuses on taxation, accounting consultation, and financial statement attestation. Clients rely on his ability to understand complicated contracts and anticipate the position and required elements of both parties in corporate merger and acquisition deals. Clients also count on Jeff to guide them through the tax dispute process with the IRS and state departments of revenue and provide practical solutions to their tax and accounting needs.

Outside of work, Jeff’s favorite escape is Minnesota’s Arrowhead region where he enjoys skiing, fishing, hunting or just relaxing by a good campfire with his wife and two children. Whether he’s exploring the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness or a new section of the Superior Hiking Trail, Jeff gets his best ideas when out in nature.
