Tom Nordquist, CPA

Partner

Tom partners with his clients to provide tax, attestation, and consulting support. He is involved with the real estate and service industries while managing multiple private-equity projects in the professional services industry. In addition, clients look to Tom to provide practical solutions to tax disputes and their accounting needs.

Tom got his start in accounting helping low-income individuals prepare their tax returns while attending the University of Minnesota – Duluth. He enjoyed sitting across the table from his client, learning more about them, and adding care to a prepared tax return. He joined Ballenthin, Funk & Johnson in September of 2015, a firm where he felt that he could continue exercising the same amount of care to a greater variety of clients. While the people element is still present, Tom finds additional joy in the challenge of piecing together a difficult accounting puzzle.

Most of Tom’s free time is spent with his family, friends, and following the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves. Once busy season ends, the slow-pitch softball leagues begin. He takes pride in his culinary skills over a grill and doesn’t pass up an opportunity to show them off to friends when the weather is nice.

I take pride in the work that starts as just a conversation and results in lifelong opportunities. I find success in my client’s successes and want to help them evolve their business to where they want it to go."
